As a journalist, I’m fascinated (some would say obsessed) by the news media in all its forms.
After getting my Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University, I spent a couple of decades in newsrooms as a reporter and editor.
For a time, I had a small business shooting and editing videos for nonprofits. I was a copywriter and fundraiser for several years.
Spending time on the web, it became clear that too much ink was spent on appealing to young people. Of course, I’m fascinated and inspired by the accomplishments of younger folk, and have great respect for their ideas.
But I wasn’t finding the stories by and about those of us mid-career or retired. That’s why I started this site.

A Sunday bike ride
One of my favorite pastimes is bike riding. I have a hybrid Trek bike with medium width tires, and handlebars that allow me to sit straighter than those racing models do.
I enjoy riding on a paved off-road trail near our house, but lately I’ve come to dislike riding on weekends.
There are too many people on the trail, and I can easily go Monday through Friday.
But Sunday was such a perfect early fall day, I decided to take to the trail.
I’ll know better next time.
Remembering a time of national pride
The anniversary of the moon landing brought up a wash of feelings.
In the summer of 1969 I was traveling in Greece, bumming around with a friend on the island of Rhodes.
We didn’t have detailed knowledge of the space program at the time, but the whole world, it seemed, was keenly interested in the moonshot. Even vacationers at the tiny seaside hotel where we were staying.
Niagara Falls
My husband and I took a road trip from Massachusetts to Western Michigan over the 4th of July. Our first stop was Niagara Falls, Ontario.
